Anti-Aging & Longevity
Longevity peptides range from cosmetic skin ingredients to experimental mitochondrial compounds. Only a few, such as SS-31 (elamipretide) for Barth syndrome, have an FDA-approved product, and none is approved to slow aging.
Tissue Repair & Recovery
Recovery peptides such as BPC-157 and TB-500 are popular but unapproved; their evidence comes mostly from animal studies, and both are prohibited in sport.
Hormone Optimization
Hormone-axis peptides act on growth hormone or reproductive hormones. Several, such as tesamorelin, hCG and gonadorelin, have approved products for specific diagnoses; most GH secretagogues sold online do not.
Sexual Wellness
Bremelanotide (PT-141) is the only peptide FDA-approved for a sexual-desire condition, as Vyleesi for premenopausal women with HSDD. Melanotan II and kisspeptin products sold online are unapproved.
Cognitive Enhancement
No peptide is FDA-approved to improve cognition. Semax, Selank and Cerebrolysin are approved in some other countries; DSIP and Dihexa have only early research.
Athletic Performance
Peptides marketed for performance are almost all unapproved and prohibited by WADA, including GH secretagogues, BPC-157, TB-500 and IGF-1 analogs.
Immune Support
Thymosin alpha-1 (thymalfasin) is approved in a number of countries outside the US for hepatitis B; LL-37, KPV and thymic bioregulators remain research compounds without FDA approval.
Weight Loss
Weight-management peptides split into FDA-approved incretin drugs (semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide) available by prescription and investigational ones such as retatrutide, survodutide and mazdutide that are only legally available in trials.
